This really is a most strange environment.
The Pinnacles or Pinnacles Desert as it is often called is a small area of land almost completely devoid of vegetation within the otherwise quite densely vegetated Nambung National Park in Western Australia.
Outside of the so called “Pinnacles Desert” areas that visitors get to see which has the famous orange/yellow sands with ancient rock pinnacles standing, there are areas of sand dunes, wind blown and always changing. I found this section of dune on the leeward side where there were thousands of small bushes of various sizes struggling to stay attached to mother earth. This really shows me just how tough it can be for some living things to survive.
